hi mam jojie. can i ask u something . do u believe that hiyas ng kadayawan is an affront to women ??? can u please answer it .thank you

    • Why would it be an affront to women? Because they chose ladies with ethnic genes? Hiyas doesn’t have a swimsuit competition, so why should it be offensive to women, unless there are complaints of discrimination. Hiyas ng Kadayawan is a call for our ten tribes to show off the loveliest in their community, one they can be proud of, and most importantly, one who is knowledgeable of her native roots. That is why our former Hiyas 2010, Mirnadeth Sicutan from the Ata Tribe, is an exemplary petite lady who is confident of herself. I don’t find anything demeaning or insulting about this pageant. Rather, it is uplifting and inspiring for those who aspire to shine one day. It gives the minorities hope and recognition, and to become role models in their communities.

I hope your question was answered, and I have helped in any way. Thanks, Iris Mae. 🙂
