The Alsons Public Safety Complex located in Northtown, Cabantian, features a two-storey Central 911 station with an infirmary and standby ambulance, a one-storey Police Station with two detention cells, and a two-storey fire station with two standby fire trucks. With this setup, the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire, and Central 911 staff will be able respond to distress calls easily by providing 24-hour medical, rescue, fire, K-9, and police assistance. It is expected to cut down response times, as the neighborhood will no longer have to rely on the Central 911 station in Panacan, 13 kilometers away.

The first integrated safety and rescue facility in the country with police, fire, and Central 911 stations in one address was inaugurated in Davao City on June 21, 2016. This 2000 sq. m. facility was formally turned over by Davao-based real estate developer Alsons Development and Investment Corporation (Alsons Dev) as a donation to the City Government of Davao.

Alsons Dev Executive Vice-President Rosie A. Dominguez says, “The Alsons Public Safety Complex is our modest way of giving back to Davaoeños, who have been our customers, clients, and partners for over 50 years. We are proud to partner with the City Government in continuing to make Davao one of the safest and most livable places in the world.”

The new facility is the culmination of a memorandum of understanding first signed in 2013, with Alsons Dev’s commitment to constructing the public safety complex in which the City Government will operate. Construction began in July 2015 with President-elect Rodrigo R. Duterte as guest of honor during the groundbreaking.  Completed on April this year, the PNP, BFP and Central 911 stations in the complex are now fully operational.

Although I have no relation to the Alsons family, it was an honor for me to have done the photo shoot of the entire complex days before its inauguration.  Other photos during the coverage were by Rhonson Ng and Tom Inigo.
